The Lost Case

I wish I told my friend that if he continued to sulk on his 2-3 shortcomings he’ll become worse than he was.
I wish I told my friend to not stay in dark corners for too long.
I wish he just listened.
I wish he was a little brave.
I wish he never betrayed. Himself.
I wish we never met but then I’m glad we met for the lessons I learnt.

He wasn’t the worst,
he wasn’t even my truest friend.
He looked for solace in cigarettes,
a little solace in drinks,
a little solace in picking up girls at the bar,
but never within himself.

I was just a random person,
who listened to him when no one did.
I was just a random person,
who he knew would be there no matter what.
I was a random person,
who unfortunately said that very thing that he didn’t want to hear.
I was simply a random person.

This was the lost case of a man I once knew to have a beautiful heart.
